What is the European Stone Festival?
From 26 to 28 June 2015, we will be welcoming over 150 young stonemasons and stone carvers from all over Europe to Strasbourg where they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and creativity to a wide audience.
Since the festival took place for the first time at the end of the nineties in Freiburg, it has become an annual event and been hosted by a variety of European countries.
Strasbourg is situated in the Elsass, France, the Rhine valley with its spectacular landscape of mountains, lakes and pastures. The theme for 2015 is The message from the great master masons of the Romanesque times and the mystical world of the Rhine valley. The Rhine valley is the centre of Romanesque architecture with all its stunning mystical ornaments, full of medieval symbolism.
